Young horses

We can work together to create your young horse training plan. I specialise in young stock handling, ground work for young horses and starting a horse under saddle.

Problem horses

Does your horse nap, rear, pull or bolt? Using horsemanship techniques, together we can work to give your horse the confidence to tackle whatever lies ahead.

Lessons and clinics

I can travel to your yard to work with your horse or give you horsemanship lessons. I also offer lessons at my yard in Wakefield and hold regular horsemanship clinics and demos.

Restarting a horse

Sometimes horses have had a difficult start in life or their job changes. I use horsemanship techniques to re-educate your horse to create a better relationship with you or to prepare them for their new career.

Loading horses

Wish going out with your horse was a breeze? Loading a young horse for the first time? I work with you to solve horse loading issues. The end result is a happy, confident horse when loading into a trailer or horsebox.

Rope halters + flags

Custom made rope halters and lead ropes for your horse. They are hand knotted using durable nylon rope. I also supply horsemanship flags, which act as great horsemanship training tools.

About my yard in Yorkshire

Based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire I have great facilities at my yard to train your horse or welcome you for horsemanship lessons. There is a round pen on site, 16 loose boxes and a large indoor arena with a sand surface. There is also safe, off-road hacking on a nearby nature reserve. Located only 15 minutes from the M1 motorway, it is easily accessible in with a trailer or horse box.

Before horses come to my yard for training they must show a negative result for strangles and be fully vaccinated against flu. I welcome owners to visit my yard before a horse comes for training. This gives us a good opportunity to sit down and establish a plan that works for you and your horse.

AY Horsemanship is fully insured for combined liability (policy displayed at the yard). Owners looking to send their horses to me for training are also advised to have public liability insurance in place.
