About me

Why Choose AY Horsemanship?

I was introduced to horsemanship during a college work placement with Carol Taylor and Argentinian horseman Adalberto Barberini. Watching how Carol and Adalberto worked the horses ignited a spark in me and I wanted to learn more.

Fast forward a few years, I graduated from college, and was working full time for Carol and Adalberto working with a wide variety of horses from full liveries to stud work and learning how to work and ride polo ponies. At this stage, I was convinced I wanted to go to Argentina to become a polo player...

One day, Adalberto took me aside and jokingly said "Adam you might not make much of a polo player but you will be a bloody good horseman."

And here I am, running my own yard, working with wonderful customers, a brilliant team and hosting my own horsemanship clinics and demos!

A calm, professional environment where horses thrive

At my yard in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, I have 16 loose boxes for training livery and sole use of a round pen and large indoor arena. There is also great off-road hacking at a local nature reserve. I am proud of the calm and professional yard I have built up and the dedicated team I have working with me. Every horse is treated as an individual and when a horse is with me for training livery they get worked five days a week in a consistent and comfortable environment.

I welcome owners to visit my yard prior to sending a horse for training so they can explore the yard and watch me working horses.

"Amazing session with Adam, he talked through everything he did and why he did it. After just 15 minutes Adam had JJ on the box and she only improved from there! I cannot thank Adam enough for everything he has done."
